Inventory & Depth

FEI holds what is widely regarded as the world's most comprehensive inventory of exceptional color gemstones and natural pearls — including an unrivaled depth in the elite primary origins: Kashmir sapphires, Colombian emeralds, and Burmese rubies. That foundation reflects cultivated taste and technical expertise — knowledge that can only be acquired through time and passion.

Who We Serve

The world's foremost jewelry brands, manufacturers, and retailers turn to FEI because no other firm can match the combination of our capabilities and vast inventory. We are, in the most literal sense, the jeweler to the jeweler — the inventory behind some of the most celebrated names in the industry.

Speed & Service

The needs of our clients — whether a brand on a production deadline, a collector seeking a specific stone, or a buyer of important jewelry — require both depth and rapid response. FEI is structured to do both. Our team evaluates requests promptly, proposes solutions creatively, and fulfills orders with the speed and precision that the world's most demanding clients expect.

Where Origin
Is Only the Beginning

The most celebrated origins produce the most celebrated stones — but origin is a certificate of birthplace, not a guarantee of quality. The finest stone in a room is not always from the most famous address. A Zambian emerald selected for its intrinsic material can surpass a Colombian stone that never fulfilled its potential. A Mozambican ruby at its very best challenges everything the market assumes. FEI's depth across origins reflects a conviction that taste and the trained eye — applied at the point of selection and again at the cutting wheel — are the variables that matter most. Origin tells you where a stone was born. It does not tell you what it became.

Colombia · Zambia · Brazil

Emeralds

Colombian origin sets the reference standard — but the finest emerald in a room is not always Colombian. Zambian material, at its best, produces a depth and saturation that challenges any origin. FEI holds stones across all the great emerald sources, selected on the only basis that matters: the quality of the individual stone.

Burma · Mozambique

Rubies

Burmese rubies from Mogok remain the standard bearer. But Mozambican rubies, when selected carefully and cut to reveal their particular warmth, are nothing short of elite. FEI holds material across all origins — the criterion is always the stone itself, not the address on its certificate.

Kashmir · Ceylon · Burma · Madagascar

Sapphires

Kashmir remains preeminent — but Ceylon and Burma at their best, and Madagascar at its finest, produce stones of genuine distinction. The hierarchy of origins matters less than the quality of selection within each one. FEI's sapphire inventory reflects the full range of what is truly exceptional, wherever it comes from.

Natural — Antique & Vintage

Natural Pearls

Every natural pearl FEI holds is old, exceptional, and vanishingly rare. Natural pearls — formed without human intervention — have not been commercially harvested in meaningful quantities for nearly a century. The inventory we maintain represents some of the finest examples the market has produced: individual stones and matched strands of a quality few truly understand, let alone master.

Russia · Brazil · Ceylon

Alexandrite

Fine alexandrite — particularly the Russian material showing strong color change — is among the most coveted of all collector stones. FEI maintains inventory across origins and sizes, with emphasis on stones where the color change is definitive and well-documented.

Brazil · Mozambique

Paraíba Tourmaline

The electric neon color of copper-bearing Paraíba tourmaline is unlike anything else in gemology. FEI holds Brazilian and Mozambican material across a range of sizes, with documentation from the leading laboratories confirming copper content and origin.

Burma · Tajikistan · Tanzania

Spinel

Spinel's rapid rise to prominence among collectors and designers reflects the exceptional quality of material available — particularly Burmese red and the electric pinks from Tanzania. FEI carries significant inventory across colors and origins.

Further Stones

FEI's inventory extends across more than forty species — topaz, tsavorite, tanzanite, demantoid, tourmaline, and important diamonds among them. If you are looking for something specific, the breadth of what we hold is best discovered in conversation.

In-House Lapidary

Cut to a Standard
the Market
Rarely Achieves

FEI's in-house lapidary is one of the most capable in the industry — the direct reason our inventory reaches a standard of cutting that the broader market rarely achieves.

  • Precision cutting and polishing across 40+ gemstone species
  • Production cutting for large and matched inventory requirements
  • Custom cuts to maximize the character of individual stones
  • Matched pairs and layouts for high jewelry applications
  • Re-cutting and re-polishing to unlock a stone's full potential
Fine Jewelry

Antique, Estate & Modern

Forty years at the centre of the private jewelry trade brings access that cannot be manufactured. The pieces FEI holds — antique, estate, and contemporary — are here because they are exceptional, selected by the same eye with the same discernment that defines everything else we do.

Antique & Estate

Estate Jewelry

We acquire across all periods and origins, research and authenticate provenance, and obtain independent laboratory certification. Whether from a noble or illustrious family or simply a piece of notable quality preserved through generations, we present jewels with the fullest picture possible.

Modern & Signed

Contemporary Fine Jewelry

FEI's contemporary inventory is selective by necessity — only pieces of genuine distinction make their way in. The result is a collection where significant craftsmanship and exceptional quality are constants, whether the piece is signed or not. For those who approach contemporary jewelry with the same critical eye they bring to antique work, FEI offers access to jewels that rarely appear through conventional channels.

The Private Sale,
Done Properly

When important jewelry or gemstones come to market, the conventional routes are slow, public, and uncertain. FEI offers something different: a genuine offer, made promptly, and closed in complete confidence.

We pay top prices — and we are able to pay more than most because we see value others miss. Our in-house lapidary and restoration capabilities mean we can acquire pieces or stones requiring work and realise their full potential, rather than discounting for it. That expertise, built over forty years of handling the finest material in the world, is what allows us to act with both speed and conviction.

Every transaction is handled to the specific needs of the seller. A single piece, a full collection, a complex estate — each presents different considerations, and we approach all of them with the same care and flexibility. Where a standard transaction does not fit, we find a structure that does.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Does FEI sell to wholesale buyers — brands, manufacturers, and retailers?

Yes — FEI's primary business is supplying brands, manufacturers, and retailers worldwide with exceptional color gemstones, both individual pieces and large production runs. Our in-house lapidary allows us to cut and calibrate stones to specification, and our inventory across 40+ species enables us to fulfill demands that most suppliers cannot.

Can individuals buy gemstones directly from FEI?

Yes. FEI works with private collectors seeking exceptional individual stones — one-of-a-kind pieces, matched pairs, or specific origins rarely available through retail channels. Our inventory represents forty years of selective acquisition at the source and is available to serious collectors by appointment.

What lapidary and manufacturing services does FEI offer?

FEI operates an in-house lapidary for the cutting and polishing of its own inventory — across more than forty gemstone species, including production quantities, matched pairs, layouts, and individual stones cut to maximize their particular character. The lapidary does not offer cutting services to third parties; its purpose is to ensure that every stone FEI holds meets the standard FEI's clients expect.

Does FEI buy gemstones and jewelry?

Yes. FEI acquires exceptional gemstones, natural pearls, and fine jewelry — antique and modern — on a confidential basis. We evaluate promptly, make genuine offers, and can close within days. All enquiries are handled with complete discretion. Contact us at [email protected].
